I'm gonna keep this one short and sweet so that you can take action asap (mainly because this is key when busting through the procrastination habit!
Trick 1: Make it fun
We love, love, love anything that gets our serotonin flowing. We hate, hate, hate anything that sends cortisol whizzing around our system.
So, if you have something which at the moment brings you out in hives, have a think about how you can make it fun.
Could you spend 5-10 minutes doing the task & reward yourself with a quick sing-song down the local karaoke club (if you like that sort of thing #obvs!)
Trick 2: Make a bet with someone you don't like
We all hate giving money away to people (I'm not talking good causes because heck, we're nice people), and when that person is someone you don't particularly like well that really grates on us.
We're biologically hard-wired to move away from fear not towards the things we love.
I guarantee you giving cold hard cash to someone you despise is definitely going to light a fire under you and get you pushing through a few uncomfortable barriers.
Trick 3: Simply choose not to do it
I know, this sounds crazy, right?
But, often we add a million and one things to our to-do list and sometimes, these things don't actually need doing.
Or more specifically, they don't need doing by us.
So take a sneaky peak at your list & see where you can either scrub it out or donate it to someone else to do #simples
Trick 4: Chunk it down
Sometimes, the reason we can't take action is because we are so overwhelmed by the enormity of the task.
Take starting a business for example. Even though I've done this once already, just thinking about all the gazillion moving parts is making me want to hide under the desk!
But, if instead I was like, pick a name, or pick an office, or even pick up the phone to speak to another local business owner this means I now have something small and tangible to accomplish.
It's always the small little steps which make huge dreams come true
Trick 5: 5 minutes or less
Quickly scan through your list and put a star by anything which will take you 5 minutes or less.
Next time you are about to wander off task & play around on social media do one of these things instead.
You'll be amazed at how many little jobs end up getting done & how much time you're not wasting stalking celebrities on BuzzFeed!
