It will come as no surprise that more and more children and young people are struggling with extreme levels of stress, depression and anxiety (not to mention all the other lesser spoken about mental health difficulties), it's in the news daily.
The problem is that no matter how much we talk about it, there seems to be very little getting done, or changing.
The numbers keep going up.
Our children keep getting worse...
Yes, the NHS and in particular CAMHS is struggling to cope financially and this has hit resources hard, but what if we are all missing the point?
What if there was something which could be done right now to help children and young people rapidly shift their mental health?
Well, there is - & when you're ready to help, hit find out more to read on:
Medication isn't the answer
Increased numbers of children accessing intensive therapy isn't the answer
I think intensive therapy is amazing but, like medication it has it's place.
It's not a short, quick fix.
To be successful requires a lot of hard work from the person who's struggling and some serious skill from the therapist.
Our service delivers a 12 week programme of intensive holistic therapy to those struggling with moderate/severe stress, depression &/or anxiety and while yes, we see phenomenal changes. Children and young people regaining the spark they had within the first few weeks and most recovering completely once the 12 weeks are up.
But, it's not for everyone.
It requires the young person to be dedicated to getting better.
In relies on a parent being involved in the process and learning to change the way they're interacting.
You could say it's a whole family affair.
The thing is, it shouldn't be needed anywhere near as much as it is.
Half of the things we do could be taught by their parents or by their teachers.
But, they're not passed on by psychologists or therapists to parents or teachers.
So, parents & teachers can't pass it on to their children.
& again as a society, we must take responsibility for the increase in numbers of our children who are being crippled by mental illness every day.
What is the answer?
Spending 3 minutes a day tapping with EFT genuinely, is the answer for millions of our children
(Katie Woodland; 2018)
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) enables children and young people to safely and effectively reset their physiology and psychology in a matter of minutes.
In fact, this isn't just for kids - you should be doing it every day too.
The most recent research into EFT has shown that it is hugely effective in reducing anxiety and depression.
One study, compared EFT to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) & found there to be no difference in effectiveness (http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/o/cochrane/clcentral/articles/752/CN-01329752/frame.html). This may not sound like much but this is HUGE!
CBT requires you to be guided and supported through techniques which rewire your brain so that you can change your thoughts and behaviour patterns.
EFT rewires your brain but you don't need a therapist*.
You just need to dedicate a few minutes a day (honest two - three minutes a day is enough to see rapid change) to tapping.
Check out the video below to see how it's being used in Schools to reduce stress, depression, anxiety and bullying!
There's still time to join the free 10th annual tapping summit (ends March 9th 2018) and learn how to use this powerful technique yourself so that you can help your loved ones overcome stress, depression, anxiety and physical discomfort by simply showing them how.
