So, you probably know that I decided to branch out on my own because of a particularly bad week working for an NHS service.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved the service, loved the people and did love my time there but telling people their kids weren’t ill enough to receive treatment- well that really does not give me the warm and fuzzies!
Anyways after setting up and embarking on 6 months of intensive CPD training in counselling, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), incredible years parent training, and aromatherapy I started helping people through very difficult periods in their lives.
In the beginning, I was doing what everyone else does and offered standalone support e.g., 6 weeks of CBT or 8 weeks of parent training and even, 4 sessions of hypnotherapy…
The problem was that even though every one of my clients was feeling better and had made drastic changes in their mental wellbeing, it always seemed to leave a very bitter taste in my mouth.
I knew that had they opted for a little bit of something else then they would have improved that much more, or if they’d wanted a combination then they’d be even further up the happiness pyramid when they finished.
The thing is, back then, I just wasn’t confident enough in my ability to mix-and-match the therapies they needed.
After 12 months of the bad taste and feeling as though I was doing everyone a disservice (just so you know, I was damn good at what I was doing and everyone made the ‘expected progress’) I decided to do some experimenting.
I rejigged the website and removed all the separate therapies and instead came up with the ‘intensive holistic therapy programme’ (IHTP).
I know, it’s rather a long name, but I needed anyone perusing the site to know these 4 key things:
I’ve seen people enter the service with mental health screening scores that are off the charts and leave with hardly any trace of illness.
I’ve helped people who’ve struggled for 3, 5, 10 and even 30 years, trying different types of therapies, medications and all manner of things to get better finally achieve a mentally healthy life.
More importantly, none of these effects are short-lived.
Each client goes on to live a happy, healthy life without needing any further treatment.
If something happens in their lives to make them go a little off kilter they simply whip out their folder and go back to the beginning starting the programme from scratch.
Because let’s be totally honest here, they’re the ones who did all the work the first time around.
Even more surprising, after 12 months of delivering the programme, I noticed peoples personalities would change. So we started tracking this too!
People who had always professed they were shy, introverted and self-conscious in places with lots of people started getting out there and enjoying being the centre of attention.
Clients who always put everyone else’s needs before their own soon started to put themselves at the top of their to-do-list and found that this not only made them happier, it also counter-intuitively made everyone else around them happier.
Then 12 months ago, I heard on the radio that a piece of research had been conducted into how therapy works & they too noticed these personality shifts.
For me, this was a major milestone.
It validated the IHTP
Not only had I helped people overcome extreme levels of stress, depression & anxiety in just 12 weeks, we’d shifted their personality and ensured they stayed mentally healthy for life!
OK, so the first clients came through the programme 3 years ago, so I can’t say with any certainty it’s for life but if you’d had 30 years with overwhelming anxiety and then experienced 3 years without any blips, a lifetime of being anxiety free is absolutely plausible.
But, the thing is, not everyone needs the IHTP.
Most people really don’t need that level of intensive support to get them on the right track.
They just need a little bit of direction.
Or a fairy godmother.
& this is why I’ve re-launched my 21 Day Happiness Challenge for 2018.
It’s been updated with a few different techniques and now comes with a daily video training to give you more insight into how to make the daily challenges more effective in building happiness into your life and I’m on hand throughout giving live support and coaching where needed.
Most importantly because I’m on my mission to help 2,500 people this year for free, it's completely free to join in.
